The KENNAMETAL 1094478 is a left-hand SCLC-style indexable turning toolholder designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built on a screw-on insert holding method, it accepts CC..21.5. inserts (complete compatibility: CC.. 2151) with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and delivers a neutral rake angle of 0 degrees, making it suitable for general-purpose turning on a wide range of workpiece materials. The steel shank measures 3/8 inches wide by 3/8 inches high with an overall length of 2.5 inches. A 5-degree lead angle positions the insert for controlled chip flow and consistent edge engagement. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers of this toolholder.
This toolholder is intended for external turning applications where a left-hand cutting direction is required. The 3/8 inches x 3/8 inches shank fits smaller turrets and compact tool blocks common on bench lathes and light-duty CNC turning centers. With a head length of 0.5 inches and a back-of-bar to cutting edge distance of 0.5 inches, the 1094478 positions the cutting edge precisely for close-tolerance finishing and semi-finishing passes. Coolant-through capability is not included, so it is best suited for dry or flood-coolant environments where external coolant delivery is available.
Compatible with CC..21.5. indexable inserts (complete designation CC.. 2151) featuring a 1/4-inch inscribed circle. Designed as an OEM-style screw-on left-hand SCLC turning toolholder for use in standard square-shank tool blocks and turrets accepting a 3/8 inches shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the turret or tool block fully locked before handling. Confirm insert seating and screw torque per the machine or tooling manufacturer guidelines before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert pocket and screw threads for debris or damage each time the insert is indexed. Follow applicable shop safety standards for cutting tool handling.
