The KENNAMETAL 1015308 is a Double Angle collet chuck with a straight shank, designed for precision workholding in CNC machining and manual milling operations. Built to the DA300 collet series standard, this chuck delivers a total indicated runout (TIR) of 0.0001 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance work where concentricity matters. It features through-spindle coolant delivery via a close-center nose type, helping flush chips and manage heat at the cutting zone. The actuator engages with a standard wrench, and the chuck is balanced to 8,000 RPM for stable performance at higher spindle speeds. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or job shop environments are the primary installers.
This collet chuck is used in machining centers, vertical mills, and CNC lathes requiring a straight shank toolholder with DA300 collet compatibility. The 0.5 inch shank diameter seats into standard straight-shank spindle bores. Collet capacity ranges from 1/64 inch minimum to 1/4 inch maximum, covering small-diameter end mills, drills, and reamers commonly used in precision metal removal. The 1.38 inch projection and 4.38 inch overall length suit toolpath setups where clearance and reach are calculated at setup time.
Designed for use with DA300 series double angle collets in straight-shank spindle configurations accepting a 0.5 inch shank diameter.
Installation and removal should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle fully de-energized and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Confirm shank bore cleanliness and concentricity before seating the chuck. Use the correct wrench size on the 0.5 inch hex to tighten the collet nut to the collet manufacturer's specified procedure — do not use impact drivers on collet nuts. Verify TIR with a dial indicator after installation before commencing any cutting operation.
