The JET EQUIPMENT PM9-1791250 is a 16-inch open-end belt sander built for industrial and commercial woodworking operations. Driven by a 5 HP, 1-phase, 230-volt main motor, it delivers consistent stock removal and finish quality on wide panels and flat workpieces. A dedicated 1/4 HP, 1-phase feed motor controls workpiece throughput. Front-mounted controls and a load meter let the operator monitor machine performance continuously during a run. Pneumatic conveyor belt tracking automatically centers the sanding belt, reducing manual adjustments and downtime. Metal-tipped safety limiters inside the machine stop the sander immediately if belt breakage occurs, protecting both the operator and the workpiece.
The PM9-1791250 is suited for production woodworking environments where consistent surface finish across wide stock is required. The combination sanding head promotes a more uniform finish in a single pass compared to single-head configurations. A side access door simplifies belt changes, keeping downtime short during production. Typical installations include cabinet shops, millwork facilities, and furniture manufacturing operations. The unit ships as a single package and requires a dedicated 230-volt, 1-phase electrical circuit at the installation point.
Designed as a replacement or equivalent unit for the Powermatic Model 1632 open-end belt sander configuration. Verify electrical service requirements before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with NEC requirements for 230-volt, 1-phase motor-driven equipment. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power before servicing belts or internal components. The machine must be properly anchored to a level floor surface to prevent movement during operation. Connect the dust collection port to an appropriately rated dust extraction system before placing the unit in service.
