The JET 690087 is a variable-speed vertical knee mill configured with a Newall C80 digital readout (DRO) and an X-axis powerfeed pre-installed at the factory. It is built for precision metal removal in job shop, toolroom, and industrial manufacturing environments. The variable-speed spindle drive eliminates the need for manual belt changes, allowing the operator to dial in the correct RPM for the material and cutter at hand. The Newall C80 DRO provides real-time axis position feedback, reducing layout time and improving repeatability across production runs. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and skilled maintenance mechanics are the primary installers and operators of this machine.
The JET 690087 is suited for toolroom and general-purpose milling work in both light production and custom fabrication settings. Typical applications include face milling, end milling, boring, and drilling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The factory-installed X-axis powerfeed reduces operator fatigue during extended feed passes and improves surface finish consistency. The Newall C80 DRO supports standard two-axis or three-axis position readout depending on configuration, making this setup particularly efficient for shops transitioning away from manual layout and scribing methods.
Designed as a self-contained vertical knee milling machine. Accessories and tooling compatible with standard R8 spindle taper toolholders where applicable to this machine family.
Installation and commissioning of a machine tool of this class should be performed by a qualified millwright or machine tool technician. The machine must be leveled on a suitable concrete floor or isolation pad using precision machinist levels before operation. Electrical connection must be made by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for the supply voltage and amperage rating of the machine. Disconnect and lock out all power before performing any maintenance, tooling changes, or DRO wiring work.
