The JERGENS 215-066351 is a thin wall keylocking thread insert designed to install a permanent, locking threaded hole in metal parent material. It accepts an M5 x 0.8 internal thread and drives in via an M8 x 1.25 external thread cut to a 6G class of fit. The insert is machined from 303 stainless steel and passivated per finish standards, making it suitable for corrosive or high-cleanliness environments. At 8 mm overall length, this insert fits compact bosses and thin-section castings where conventional inserts would not clear. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and MRO maintenance personnel typically install these during part fabrication or field repair of stripped threads.
Thin wall keylocking inserts are used in aerospace, defense, industrial machinery, and precision equipment applications where thread pullout resistance is required and parent material is limited. The keylocking design mechanically locks the insert into the host material, preventing rotation under load or vibration. This insert follows the Metric Coarse thread standard and carries an NAS 1394 standard designation, making it appropriate for applications that call out that specification. Its compact footprint suits aluminum, steel, and other metallic housings where wall thickness is a constraint.
Designed as a keylocking thread insert replacement for applications requiring an M5 x 0.8 internal thread in an M8 x 1.25 tapped hole, conforming to NAS 1394.
Installation requires a properly sized NAS 1394 keylocking insert installation tool to drive the locking keys into the parent material after the insert is threaded in. The parent material bore must be tapped to the correct M8 x 1.25 dimension and tolerance before installation. Ensure the host material and bore depth are suitable for an 8 mm insert length to achieve full thread engagement. Follow applicable engineering drawings and torque specifications for the assembly into which the insert is being installed.
