The JERGENS 215-066173 is a heavy-duty keylocking thread locking insert designed to install a permanent, load-bearing internal thread into a parent material. The insert accepts an M20 x 1.5 internal thread and installs via an M30 x 2 external thread, with an overall length of 30 mm. It is manufactured from C1215 carbon steel with a zinc phosphate coating for corrosion resistance. The internal thread class of fit is 6H and the external thread class of fit is 6G, conforming to NAS 1394. Licensed JERGENS-system installers and maintenance machinists typically install this insert in production or repair applications where a high-strength threaded connection is required in a drilled and tapped bore.
This insert is suited for industrial maintenance, OEM production, and repair applications requiring a metric fine internal thread. The heavy-duty keylocking design uses keys that are driven into the parent material to lock the insert in place and prevent rotation under high torque and dynamic loading. It is appropriate for use in metal parent materials across a range of industries including aerospace, defense, and general manufacturing where metric fine thread standards apply.
Designed for installation in any parent material bored and tapped to accept an M30 x 2 external thread, providing a permanent M20 x 1.5 internal thread. Compatible with JERGENS keylocking insert installation tooling for heavy-duty inserts.
Installation is performed by a machinist or maintenance technician using a JERGENS-specified installation tool for keylocking inserts. The parent material bore must be drilled and tapped to the correct M30 x 2 specification before insert installation. After seating the insert, drive the locking keys flush with or below the surface of the parent material to secure the insert against rotation. Always follow NAS 1394 and the applicable shop procedure for insert installation depth and key driving sequence.
