The JERGENS 215-066109 is a heavy-duty keylocking thread locking insert designed to create a permanent, load-bearing threaded hole in parent materials that require a stronger thread than the base material alone can provide. Machined from C1215 carbon steel with a zinc phosphate coating, this insert features a 3/4-16 UNF internal thread and a 1-1/8-12 UNF external thread. The overall length is 1.12 inches. The keylocking design uses locking keys driven into slots to mechanically anchor the insert, resisting both torque and pushout forces under heavy load. Licensed machinists, maintenance technicians, and tooling specialists install this type of insert in production and MRO applications.
This insert is suited for use in ferrous and non-ferrous parent materials where thread stripping is a concern or where a damaged thread must be restored to full load capacity. Typical applications include heavy equipment, aerospace fixtures, tooling plates, and industrial machinery where vibration, high clamp loads, or repeated fastener removal cycles are present. The zinc phosphate finish provides baseline corrosion resistance for indoor industrial environments. Installation is performed with a drill, tap, and keylocking installation tool set matched to the insert size.
Designed as a standard keylocking thread insert replacement or new installation fitting for applications requiring a 3/4-16 UNF internal thread in a 1-1/8-12 UNF tapped parent hole per NAS 1394.
Installation is performed by a machinist or qualified maintenance technician. The parent material must be drilled and tapped to the correct external thread size before inserting. Power down or de-energize all associated equipment before beginning work in the installation area. Use the manufacturer-specified keylocking installation tool to drive locking keys flush; do not attempt to seat keys with improvised tools, as this can damage the insert or parent thread.
