The JERGENS 215-065924 is a thin wall keylocking thread locking insert designed to install a strong, permanent threaded hole in parent materials that require a smaller wall clearance than standard keylocking inserts allow. The insert carries a 3/8-16 internal thread and a 1/2-13 external thread, both UNC, with an overall length of 0.5 inches. Made from C1215 carbon steel with a zinc phosphate coating, this insert resists loosening under vibration and shock loads. Licensed machinists, maintenance technicians, and MRO professionals install these inserts where thread stripping or material pullout is a concern.
Thin wall keylocking inserts are used in aerospace, industrial equipment, and precision assembly applications where bore-to-edge distance is limited. The 3/8-16 internal thread accommodates standard fasteners, while the 1/2-13 external thread anchors the insert into the parent bore. The zinc phosphate finish provides a base level of corrosion resistance suitable for controlled environments. This insert meets NAS 1394 standards, making it appropriate for aerospace and defense assembly work as well as general industrial MRO tasks.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation insert for applications requiring a 3/8-16 internal UNC thread in a 1/2-13 tapped bore, conforming to NAS 1394 thin wall keylocking insert specifications.
Installation requires a properly prepared NAS 1394 specification bore in the parent material. A dedicated keylocking insert installation tool is used to drive the keys into the parent material after the insert is threaded in place, mechanically locking the insert against rotation and pullout. Power down or de-energize any associated equipment before beginning thread repair or installation work. Do not attempt to drive keys without the correct installation driver, as improper installation can damage the parent bore or the insert itself.
