The JERGENS 215-065908 is a heavy-duty keylocking thread locking insert designed to create a permanent, load-bearing internal thread in metal assemblies. With a 5/8-11 UNC internal thread and a 7/8-14 external thread, this insert locks into a pre-tapped host material and resists both rotational and axial pullout forces. Manufactured from C1215 carbon steel with a zinc phosphate coating, the insert measures 0.87 inches overall length and meets NAS 1394 standards. It is installed by machinists and maintenance technicians where a stripped or reinforced thread is required in structural applications.
This insert is suited for use in heavy-duty industrial, aerospace, and maintenance applications where thread integrity under high load is critical. The keylocking design uses keys that are driven into the host material after installation, mechanically locking the insert in place and preventing loosening under vibration or cyclic loading. Typical installations include steel and aluminum structural components, fixtures, and machinery frames that require a reliable internal thread with long-term retention. The zinc phosphate finish provides moderate corrosion resistance in indoor and controlled environments.
Designed as an OEM-style keylocking thread insert for use in steel, aluminum, and other metallic host materials requiring a 7/8-14 tapped bore and a 5/8-11 UNC internal load thread per NAS 1394 specifications.
Installation requires a properly tapped 7/8-14 hole in the host material and is typically performed by a machinist or qualified maintenance technician. Power down and de-energize any associated equipment before beginning thread repair or insert installation work. Use the appropriate keylocking insert installation tool to drive the locking keys flush with the host material surface after seating the insert. Do not attempt to remove or reinstall a keylocked insert once keys are driven, as this will compromise thread retention in the host material.
