The JACOBS JCM6316 is a keyed drill chuck with a threaded mount designed for secure tooling retention on drill presses, lathes, and compatible rotary machines. It uses a 3/4-16 threaded mount interface and accepts drill bits and tooling up to 20 millimeters (approximately 0.787 inches) capacity. The chuck body is constructed from steel and uses a plain bearing design. The keyed operation provides positive gripping force, making it well suited for production drilling and heavy-duty shop work where tool slippage under load is not acceptable. Installation and removal are handled by a qualified machinist or tool crib technician.
The JCM6316 is intended for use on machines equipped with a 3/4-16 threaded spindle nose. Typical applications include drill press spindles, lathe tailstocks, and milling machine accessories where a threaded chuck mount is specified. The keyed design is preferred in industrial and job shop environments where consistent clamping torque is required across repeated tool changes. This chuck is sold individually as a single unit.
Designed for machines with a 3/4-16 threaded spindle nose. Consult the machine manufacturer's specifications to confirm spindle thread size and chuck capacity requirements before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Power down and lockout/tagout the machine before mounting or removing the chuck. Thread the chuck onto the spindle nose by hand first to avoid cross-threading, then tighten to the machine manufacturer's specified procedure. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting and before resuming operations.
