The JACOBS 7311N is a taper drill chuck arbor designed to connect a Jacobs Taper 6 (JT6) drill chuck to a No. 2 Morse Taper (2MT) spindle or tailstock. It serves as the mechanical interface between the chuck and the machine spindle, transferring rotational force and maintaining precise alignment during drilling operations. Weighing 0.3125 pounds, this arbor is a compact, solid component suited for use on drill presses, lathes, and milling machines. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals are the typical installers.
This arbor is used in machine shop and maintenance environments where a JT6-mount drill chuck must be seated into a 2MT spindle bore. Common applications include drill press spindles and lathe tailstocks configured with a No. 2 Morse Taper socket. It is appropriate for both light production and general-purpose drilling setups where a secure, repeatable chuck mounting is required.
Designed for use with JT6-mount drill chucks installed into machines equipped with a No. 2 Morse Taper spindle or tailstock socket, including drill presses and lathes with 2MT bores.
Installation is performed by machinists or qualified maintenance technicians. Before mounting or removing the arbor, power down the machine and bring the spindle to a full stop. The Morse Taper shank should be clean and free of burrs, oil, and debris before seating to ensure full contact and a secure fit. Use a proper drift and hammer to remove the arbor from the spindle socket - never pry or strike the chuck body directly.
