The JACOBS 7309N is a taper drill chuck arbor designed to connect a Jacobs Taper 4 (JT4) mount chuck to a No. 2 Morse Taper (2MT) machine spindle. It serves as the mechanical interface between the drill chuck body and the spindle bore of a drill press, lathe, or milling machine. The arbor transfers rotational force from the spindle to the chuck while maintaining precise axial alignment. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this type of arbor when setting up drilling operations that require a secure taper-on-taper fit without threaded fasteners. At 1 pound, it is a compact, solid-shank component built for repeated tool changes in production and job-shop environments.
This arbor is suited for use in stationary machine tools that accept a No. 2 Morse Taper spindle bore, including bench-top and floor-standing drill presses, metal lathes with tailstock drilling operations, and light milling setups. The JT4 mount end accepts standard Jacobs Taper 4 drill chucks, which are commonly found in mid-to-large-capacity drilling applications. Installation requires no threading or pinning - the Morse Taper shank seats by press fit into the spindle, and the JT4 end seats into the back of the chuck body by press or mallet drive.
Designed for use with Jacobs Taper 4 (JT4) drill chucks mounted in machine spindles with a No. 2 Morse Taper bore. Verify that both the chuck back taper and the spindle bore match the JT4 and 2MT specifications before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle completely before seating or removing the arbor. The 2MT shank is driven into the spindle bore by hand pressure or a soft mallet - never use excessive force that could damage the taper seats. To remove, use the appropriate drift key through the spindle drift slot; do not attempt to pry the arbor free from the chuck end.
