The JACOBS 30449DN is a Morse taper extension adapter designed to connect machine tool spindles and drill press quills where taper sizes differ across components. It accepts an MT2 inside taper and presents an MT3 outside taper, effectively extending and converting the drive interface between toolholders, drill chucks, and machine spindles. The adapter measures 7.64 inches overall length and is manufactured from alloy steel that has been hardened and ground throughout for consistent taper seat contact and long service life. This type of adapter is installed by machinists and tool-room technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This adapter is suited for use on drill presses, milling machines, lathes, and similar machine tools where an MT2 receiving taper must interface with MT3 tooling or accessories. The 3.58-inch projection and 1.18-inch body diameter are sized to provide clearance in standard quill and spindle bores. Applications include chuck mounting, boring head installation, and drill arbor extension in both light production and maintenance machining contexts.
Designed as an OEM-style Morse taper extension adapter for machine tools equipped with an MT2 spindle or quill taper requiring MT3 outside tooling interfaces.
Installation is performed by machinists or qualified tool-room personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the adapter. Clean all taper surfaces of oil, chips, and debris before insertion to ensure full taper contact and prevent fretting. Removal requires a draw bar or drift key appropriate for the MT3 taper; never strike the adapter body directly with a hammer.
