The JACOBS 30424N is a standard Morse taper reducing sleeve designed to adapt tooling with an MT1 inside taper to a machine spindle or socket with an MT3 outside taper. The sleeve features a soft body with a hardened tang, providing durability at the drive point while allowing straightforward removal with a drift key. With an overall length of 3.88 inches and a 0.25 inch projection, this sleeve is a practical adapter for machinists and tool room technicians working with drill presses, lathes, and milling machines that require taper size transitions.
This reducing sleeve is used in machine shop and production environments where tooling with an MT1 shank must seat securely in an MT3 spindle or socket. Typical applications include adapting twist drills, reamers, and other MT1-shanked cutting tools into MT3 quills or tailstocks. It is installed and serviced by machinists, tool and die makers, and industrial maintenance technicians.
Designed as an OEM-style reducing sleeve for machine tools equipped with an MT3 receiving socket, accepting any standard MT1-shanked cutting tool or accessory.
Installation is performed by machinists or industrial maintenance technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the sleeve. Clean both the sleeve and spindle socket thoroughly to remove chips, oil, and debris before seating the taper to ensure full contact and prevent fretting. Use a proper drift key and drift slot to remove the sleeve; never use impact tools directly against the sleeve body.
