The ITW BUILDEX 560115 is a No. 12 self-drilling screw with a hex washer head and hex drive, designed for fast, reliable fastening in steel and sheet metal applications. Measuring 3/4 inch under the head with a No. 3 drill point, this screw cuts its own pilot hole, eliminating the need for pre-drilling. It is manufactured from steel for durability in demanding trade environments. Each package contains 100 screws, making it well suited for production work on mechanical, HVAC, and light structural assemblies where speed and consistency matter.
This screw is commonly used in HVAC ductwork fabrication, light-gauge steel framing, and mechanical equipment installation. The No. 3 drill point is rated for use in thicker gauge steel compared to finer drill points, making it appropriate for heavier sheet metal work. Installers in HVAC, electrical, and general mechanical trades reach for this size and point combination when fastening steel panels, brackets, and equipment housings where a pre-drilled hole is not practical.
Designed as an OEM-style self-drilling fastener for light- to medium-gauge steel sheet metal applications typical in HVAC, mechanical, and light structural assembly work.
Installation is performed with a hex-drive bit and a variable-speed drill or screwgun set to an appropriate clutch setting to avoid overdriving. Power down and de-energize any equipment before fastening panels or covers to live assemblies. Do not overdrive the screw, as stripping the self-drilled threads will compromise holding strength. Follow applicable codes and manufacturer guidelines for fastener spacing in structural or ductwork applications.
