The ISCAR 6822387 is a VNGA331M2 IB10S polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) turning insert designed for high-speed machining of superalloys and titanium. Carrying the IB10S manufacturer grade and an uncoated finish, this multi-tipped insert belongs to the Isoturn series. It features a 35-degree diamond shape (V insert shape code) with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. Insert thickness is 3/16 inch and overall length is 0.6535 inch (16.60 mm). The M2 chip breaker geometry and clamp-and-pin holding method suit precision turning operations where tight tolerances and consistent chip control are required. Licensed machinists and tooling professionals specify this insert for hard-material turning applications.
This insert is built for turning superalloys and titanium workpieces, primary workpiece material code S. The VNGA style with a 0-degree relief angle (clearance code N) and tolerance code G targets finishing and semi-finishing passes where dimensional accuracy is critical. It fits into VNGA-compatible toolholders designed for clamp-and-pin retention and is suited to CNC turning centers operating at the elevated cutting speeds that PCBN tooling enables. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0197 inch (0.50 mm), making it appropriate for light-to-moderate material removal on hardened and difficult-to-machine alloys.
Designed for use in VNGA-style toolholders that accept clamp-and-pin retention within the Isoturn series. Confirm toolholder compatibility with insert size code 331 and VNGA insert style before installation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and all motion axes locked out. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and verify the clamp and pin are engaged before resuming operation. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.0197 inch for this insert geometry. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping specifications for the specific tool body in use.
