The ISCAR 6499296 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Cut-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries grade IC907 with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating, delivering wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. Cutting width is 0.1575 inches (4.00 mm) with a full radius corner profile at 0.0787 inches (2.00 mm). The neutral hand orientation and positive rake angle of 7 degrees make it suitable for both external and face grooving applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this insert type.
This insert is suited for universal application, covering material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S per ISO classification. That range spans hardened steels, cast iron, stainless and exotic alloys, non-ferrous metals, and standard carbon and alloy steels. The Cut-Grip clamping system holds the insert securely without additional fasteners, which reduces setup time and maintains repeatability in production turning environments. It is sized at insert code 400200 and is intended for single-end use.
Designed for use with ISCAR Cut-Grip series tool holders accepting the GIPY 400200 insert style. Confirm holder bore and clamping slot dimensions against the GIPY insert profile before installation. No specific holder model numbers were provided in the product data.
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp components specified by the tool holder manufacturer when securing the insert in the Cut-Grip pocket. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, debris, or wear before seating the new insert, as contamination in the pocket can affect insert seating and surface finish. Follow the cutting parameter recommendations in the ISCAR catalog for the IC907 grade based on the specific workpiece material being machined.
