The ISCAR 6450044 is a cermet uncoated grooving insert carrying the TGMF402F designation and IC20N manufacturer grade. It is designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a 4.00 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 2.40 mm, and a corner radius of 0.20 mm. The neutral hand orientation suits straight-in grooving approaches. The cermet substrate provides excellent wear resistance and surface finish on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Machining professionals, tool-and-die shops, and production turning operations are the typical users of this insert.
This insert is engineered for use in the ISCAR Top-Grip toolholding system, which accepts TGMF-style inserts in the 402 size code. Primary workpiece materials are steel and stainless steel, corresponding to ISO material codes P and M. The F chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation in medium finishing and semi-finishing passes. The double-end configuration allows the insert to be indexed for extended service life, making it well suited for high-volume turning production environments where tool change frequency and cost per part are critical considerations.
Designed for use in ISCAR Top-Grip toolholding systems that accept TGMF 402 style grooving inserts. Compatible with workpieces in ISO material groups P (steel) and M (stainless steel) at material grades C6, C7, and C8.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and clamping surfaces are free of chips and debris before seating the insert to prevent improper seating and premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping guidelines for the Top-Grip system when securing the insert.
