The ISCAR 6405343 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Cut-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the manufacturer grade IC806 with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating, making it well suited for cutting superalloys and titanium. The insert geometry is neutral hand with a positive rake angle of 7 degrees and a chip breaker designation of E. It delivers a 3.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 1.80 mm, with a corner radius of 0.20 mm. The double-ended configuration extends usable tool life before replacement is required. Machinists and CNC setup technicians working in aerospace, medical, and high-performance manufacturing environments are the primary users.
This insert is intended for grooving, parting, and profiling operations where tight tolerance and superior surface finish are required on difficult-to-machine materials. Its primary workpiece material rating covers superalloys and titanium, corresponding to ISO material code S. The Cut-Grip series is a clamping-style system, and this insert is held in place via a clamp-type toolholder. It is a multi-use insert suitable for both external and internal grooving applications depending on the compatible toolholder selected. The IC806 submicron carbide grade with AlTiN coating resists heat and wear at elevated cutting temperatures common when machining S-class materials.
Designed for use with ISCAR Cut-Grip series clamping-style toolholders that accept the GIP insert style and 300020 insert size. Confirm toolholder compatibility with the insert size code 300E020 before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamp — do not overtighten by hand or with non-specified tools. Verify insert seating and clamp engagement before resuming cutting operations, and inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for damage at each tool change interval.
