The ISCAR 6404115 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Cut-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries manufacturer grade IC808 with a PVD-applied AlTiN, TiAlN, and TiN multilayer coating that improves wear resistance and heat management at the cutting edge. The insert has a neutral hand orientation, a 2.01 mm cutting width, and a maximum depth of cut of 3.00 mm. The double-ended design extends usable tool life between index cycles. Machinists and tool-room technicians install this insert into compatible Cut-Grip style grooving toolholders as part of a standard insert indexing workflow.
This insert is suited for grooving, parting, and profiling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials. The IC808 grade with submicron carbide substrate addresses universal material applications including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H. It fits typical production turning environments in both job-shop and high-volume manufacturing settings where consistent groove width and depth control are required.
Designed for use with Cut-Grip series grooving toolholders that accept GIP style inserts with insert size code 200100. Compatible with ISO material application codes H, K, M, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer. Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician following standard insert indexing procedures for self-grip style toolholders. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the toolholder secured in the turret before removing or seating the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping instructions and do not modify the insert geometry or coating.
