The ISCAR 6403353 is a solid carbide grooving insert from the Cut-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the GEPI insert style with size code 196010, this insert features a 1.96 mm (0.0772 inch) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.50 mm (0.0197 inch). The IC908 grade substrate carries a PVD-applied TiAlN coating and an 8-degree positive rake angle, making it well-suited for demanding interrupted cuts and high-speed finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is intended for use in grooving and cut-off applications across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The universal primary workpiece material classification and material grade compatibility spanning C1, C2, C6, and C7 carbide grades reflect its versatility across ISO material groups P, M, K, H, and S. It fits Cut-Grip series toolholders designed for the GEPI insert style. The neutral hand orientation allows it to be seated in standard GEPI pocket toolholders without a directional bias, accommodating both left- and right-approach grooving operations.
Designed for use with ISCAR Cut-Grip series toolholders that accept the GEPI insert style, size code 196010. Compatible with ISO material groups P, M, K, H, and S covering steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys. Material grades C1, C2, C6, and C7 are supported.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician following the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications for the clamping screw. Ensure the pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert to avoid micro-fracture at the cutting edge. The machine spindle must be brought to a full stop and the machine placed in a locked or E-stop state before any insert change. Handle solid carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges during installation and storage.
