The ISCAR 6403333 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying the GEPI104000 insert style designation and IC908 manufacturer grade. It features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering elevated wear resistance and heat tolerance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The cutting width is 1.04 mm (0.0409 inch) with a maximum depth of cut of 1.60 mm (0.0630 inch). The insert is double-ended and neutral-handed, with a positive rake angle of 8 degrees. It belongs to the Cut-Grip series and is designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Machinists and tooling specialists working in production environments are the primary users.
This insert is suited for grooving operations across universal workpiece material categories, including ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. The IC908 submicron carbide grade with TiAlN PVD coating makes it appropriate for both interrupted and continuous cuts on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is a single-piece insert held in place by a clamp-style holding method, common in Cut-Grip compatible toolholders used on production turning equipment.
Designed for use in ISCAR Cut-Grip series clamp-style toolholders that accept the GEPI insert style with size code 104000. Compatible with ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S as indicated by the primary workpiece material code designation.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician on a CNC lathe or turning center. Power down the spindle and engage all machine locks before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified for the Cut-Grip toolholder to secure the clamp — do not overtighten by hand or with improvised tools. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to ensure proper contact and repeatable depth of cut.
