The ISCAR 6403207 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying grade designation GEPI300020 and manufactured to IC908 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. It is a double-ended, neutral-hand insert designed for external and face grooving operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. The insert delivers a 3.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 8.99 mm, making it suited to medium-depth grooving passes in a single setup. The self-grip holding method provides secure seating in compatible Cut-Grip toolholders without additional clamping hardware. Machinists and CNC turning specialists install and index this insert as a routine consumable replacement during production runs.
This insert is intended for universal workpiece material application, with primary material codes covering hardened materials, cast iron, stainless steel, steel, and heat-resistant super alloys. Its positive rake geometry at 8 degrees reduces cutting forces and aids chip evacuation in these varied materials. Compatible across workpiece material groups H, K, M, P, and S as defined by the primary workpiece material codes provided by the manufacturer. Confirm toolholder pocket dimensions match the GEPI 3.00-0.20 insert profile before installation.
This insert is installed and indexed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing any insert. Use the correct insert key or torx driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not use substitute tools that may damage the self-grip pocket or insert seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips, debris, or wear before seating the new insert, as a contaminated pocket will affect groove geometry and insert life.
