The ISCAR 6402631 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. Carrying the IC528 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN finish, this single-end, right-hand insert delivers a 1.2 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 2.3 mm. The insert uses a screw-holding method for rigid, repeatable seating and belongs to the ChamGroove series, which is engineered for stable, high-accuracy groove profiling. Installation is performed by qualified machinists and tooling technicians working with precision turning toolholders.
This insert is suited for grooving superalloy and titanium workpiece materials, making it appropriate for aerospace, medical, and high-performance industrial applications where tool life in difficult-to-machine materials is a priority. The ChamGroove series targets applications requiring tight groove-width tolerances and consistent surface finish. The insert style is GIQR with size code 11120005, and it is compatible with corresponding ChamGroove toolholders designed for that insert style and size. It is rated for maximum depths of cut ranging from 2.0 mm to 3.0 mm depending on application conditions.
Designed for use with ChamGroove series toolholders accepting GIQR-style inserts in size 11120005. Confirmed primary workpiece material compatibility includes superalloys and titanium (ISO material codes M, P, and S). Verify toolholder acceptance of insert style GIQR and size code 11120005 before ordering.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before each insert change to maintain proper seating and cutting accuracy.
