The ISCAR 6402281 is a solid carbide boring bar designed for internal boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. With a minimum bore diameter of 0.1575 inches (4.00 mm) and a maximum bore depth of 0.5906 inches (15.00 mm), this bar handles small-diameter internal features where rigidity and tool life are critical. The 4.00 mm shank diameter keeps the tool compact for tight-bore applications. A TiN finish coating improves wear resistance, and the IC228 carbide grade is suited for a range of workpiece materials. Right-hand cutting direction applies to standard lathe setups. The 0.1000 inch corner radius influences surface finish and chip formation on the finished bore.
This boring bar fits typical precision small-bore turning applications in production and job shop environments. It is appropriate for residential and industrial machined component work where tight tolerances on small internal diameters are required. The compact 30.00 mm overall length makes it suitable for short-reach boring operations. Machinists and CNC operators working with aluminum, steel, or cast materials will find the solid carbide construction and TiN coating useful for maintaining dimensional accuracy across production runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit boring bar for CNC lathes and turning centers accepting a 4.00 mm shank diameter boring tool in right-hand cutting configuration.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the boring bar from the tool holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clamped to the manufacturer-specified holding requirements for the tool holder in use. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines when setting tool offsets and trial-cutting for bore diameter.
