The ISCAR 6402267 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Cut-Grip series, designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a PVD-applied TiCN coating and an IC354 manufacturer grade, making it well suited for cutting stainless steel and carbon steel. The insert features a neutral hand orientation, a 0.1969 inch cutting width, and a positive 7-degree rake angle. With a corner radius of 0.0157 inches and an overall length of 0.6024 inches, it delivers consistent chip control through its C-style chip breaker. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert as part of ISCAR Cut-Grip toolholders for high-accuracy groove profiling work.
This insert is intended for single-end use in turning and grooving applications where tight groove-width tolerances are required. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel and carbon steel, corresponding to ISO material groups M and P. The IC354 grade with PVD TiCN coating performs well in moderate to interrupted cutting conditions where edge toughness and wear resistance are both priorities. It is a multi-use insert compatible with the Cut-Grip toolholder system and carries an ISO 13399 compliant designation for standardized tool data exchange.
Designed for use with ISCAR Cut-Grip series toolholders that accept GIM5C style inserts. Insert size code is 5C. Confirm toolholder pocket specifications before ordering.
This insert is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician into a compatible Cut-Grip toolholder. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing any insert. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or clamping key to secure the insert to the manufacturer specified clamping method for the toolholder. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper seating and prevent premature edge failure.
