The ISCAR 6402266 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the GIM324A geometry and IC354 grade with a PVD-applied TiCN coating, this insert delivers strong wear resistance and edge integrity when working stainless steel and carbon steel. The cutting width measures 0.126 inches (3.20 mm), and the insert features a positive rake angle of 7 degrees with a lead angle of 4 degrees for controlled chip formation. It is a right-hand, single-end insert sized to the 324 insert size code within the Cut-Grip series. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible Cut-Grip toolholders.
This insert is suited for precision grooving of stainless steel and carbon steel workpieces in both production and job-shop turning environments. The A-style chip breaker supports controlled chip evacuation during moderate-depth grooving passes. The IC354 grade is classified under material grade C5 and C6, making it appropriate for ISO application groups M and P. The insert is held in the toolholder by clamp or screw, depending on the host toolholder design. It is a multi-use tool capable of grooving and turning in a single setup.
Designed for use with Cut-Grip series toolholders accepting the 324 insert size. Compatible with ISO 13399-compliant tooling systems. Refer to the manufacturer cross-reference GIM 3.2-4RA for direct holder matching.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp or screw to the holder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the cutting edge and insert seat for debris before each insert change. Follow the machine builder's lockout/tagout procedure before accessing the turret or tool block.
