The ISCAR 6402265 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Cut-Grip series, designed for precise grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the IC354 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiCN coating, this right-hand insert delivers wear resistance and edge toughness on demanding workpiece materials. The cutting width measures 0.126 inches (3.20 mm) with a corner radius of 0.0087 inches (0.22 mm), making it well suited for narrow, accurate groove profiles. A positive rake angle of 7 degrees supports reduced cutting forces and smooth chip flow. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC turning technicians working in production or job-shop environments.
The 6402265 is intended for grooving applications on stainless steel and steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes M and P. The A-style chip breaker supports chip control across these material groups. With a lead angle of 8 degrees and a single-end configuration, this insert is positioned in compatible Cut-Grip toolholders and clamp or screw holding systems. It is appropriate for both roughing groove passes and finish groove work where dimensional accuracy is required. The overall insert length is 0.6024 inches and the overall width is 0.0950 inches, keeping the insert compact for tight clearance applications.
Designed for use with Cut-Grip series toolholders that accept GIM-style inserts with a 328 size code and clamp or screw holding. Suitable for ISO material groups M (stainless steel) and P (steel) at material grades C5 and C6.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC turning technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before insert exchange. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and confirm clamp or screw torque per the toolholder manufacturer specification before resuming cutting. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or debris prior to inserting to prevent improper seating and premature edge failure. Always verify insert orientation for right-hand cutting direction before engaging the workpiece.
