The ISCAR 6401755 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Cut-Grip series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This double-ended, neutral-hand insert carries the GIP300020P geometry with an IC20 uncoated carbide grade. It delivers a 3.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 13.00 mm, making it well-suited for medium-depth groove profiles. The positive 7-degree rake angle reduces cutting forces, and the P chip breaker promotes controlled chip formation. The corner radius measures 0.20 mm. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments install this insert as a direct component of Cut-Grip toolholders.
This insert is intended for use across a broad range of workpiece materials, classified under universal primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, and S. These designations cover hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Typical applications include grooving, undercuts, and parting on small-to-medium diameter workpieces in precision machining shops, production turning cells, and tool rooms. The double-ended design allows the insert to be indexed for extended use before replacement, improving cost efficiency per operation.
Designed for use with ISCAR Cut-Grip series toolholders that accept the GIP 300020 insert style. Also referenced under MSC/Manufacturer Number GIP 3.00-0.20. Complies with ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be stopped and the toolholder fully de-energized before insert indexing or replacement. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping screws specified for the Cut-Grip toolholder system — do not overtighten by hand estimation. Verify insert seating and clamping integrity before resuming cutting operations.
