The ISCAR 6401752 is a solid carbide grooving insert from the Cut-Grip series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the GIP300000P geometry with an IC20 uncoated carbide grade, this insert delivers a 3 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 13 mm. The double-ended design provides two usable cutting edges per insert, extending tool life per unit. A positive rake angle of 7 degrees and the P chip breaker geometry promote controlled chip evacuation across a broad range of workpiece materials. This insert is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in production turning environments.
The 6401752 is suited for grooving, undercutting, and parting applications on materials spanning multiple ISO material groups, including steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, and heat-resistant superalloys. Its neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard straight-shank Cut-Grip toolholders used in both manual and CNC turning setups. The uncoated IC20 substrate is well matched to applications where sharp cutting edges and fine surface finish are priorities, particularly on non-ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces.
Designed for use with ISCAR Cut-Grip series toolholders accepting GIP-style inserts with a 300000 insert size code. Compatible with workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, and S per ISO material classification.
This insert is installed and replaced by machinists or toolroom technicians following standard turning-center lockout and energy-isolation procedures before any tooling change. Seat the insert fully into the Cut-Grip toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new edge. Do not exceed the 13 mm maximum depth of cut specified for this insert geometry.
