The ISCAR 6401316 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the GIPI330010P insert style designation with an IC20 uncoated carbide grade, this double-ended insert delivers a 0.1299 inch (3.30 mm) cutting width with a positive 8-degree rake angle for clean chip formation. The uncoated IC20 substrate offers a sharp, consistent edge geometry suited for fine finishing cuts across a broad range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shop and production environments install this insert in compatible Cut-Grip clamping toolholders.
This insert is rated for universal workpiece material applicability, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, N, and S — spanning hardened materials, cast iron, steel, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature superalloys. The P chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation during grooving passes. With an overall length of 0.6181 inches (15.70 mm) and overall width of 0.1299 inches (3.30 mm), the insert fits standard Cut-Grip series clamping systems. Its double-end configuration extends usable tool life before replacement is required.
Designed for use in ISCAR Cut-Grip series clamping toolholders that accept GIPI-style inserts with a 330010 insert size code. Compatible across ISO material groups H, K, M, N, and S as designated by the manufacturer. Verify toolholder seat dimensions and clamping method before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tool setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed to a safe position before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to release the clamp and seat the insert fully against the pocket before retorquing the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris prior to seating a new insert.
