The ISCAR 6200473 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the TangFace series, designed for face grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TNF3MM insert style designation with a manufacturer grade of IC808 and features a multi-layer PVD coating consisting of AlTiN, TiAlN, and TiN. The cutting width is 0.118 inches (3.00 mm) with a corner radius of 0.012 inches (0.30 mm). This insert is neutral-handed, making it suitable for either direction of cut in compatible toolholders. Machining professionals and CNC operators working across a broad range of workpiece materials select this insert for its universal material compatibility.
The 6200473 is appropriate for both production and job-shop turning environments where face grooving demands tight dimensional control. Its IC808 grade and PVD coating process support use across ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, general steels, and superalloys. The insert uses a clamp-style holding method and is designed for single-end use only. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with TangFace series clamp-style toolholders that accept TNF 3M size inserts. Compatible with ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer. Refer to ISCAR toolholder documentation to confirm insert-to-holder fitment before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the machine placed in a safe, locked-out state before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely without overtightening. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
