The ISCAR 6200461 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Heli-Grip series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. Carrying the IC807 grade designation, this insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN multilayer coating over a submicron carbide substrate, delivering strong wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. The neutral hand orientation accommodates standard grooving toolholders. Cutting width is 6 mm (0.2362 inches) and maximum depth of cut is 3.6 mm (0.1417 inches), making it well suited for medium-groove applications in production turning environments. Installation is performed by machining professionals operating CNC turning equipment.
This insert is intended for grooving and parting operations where universal material compatibility is required. The IC807 grade supports machining of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous materials, reflected by the primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, S, and H. The Heli-Grip series toolholder system uses a clamp-style insert holding method, and this insert is sized to the 6005 insert size standard, fitting compatible Heli-Grip grooving blade and toolholder bodies. The chip breaker geometry code Y promotes controlled chip formation during grooving cuts.
Designed for use with ISCAR Heli-Grip series grooving blade and toolholder bodies that accept the GRIP 6005 insert size with clamp-style holding. Consult the Heli-Grip toolholder documentation to confirm blade and holder compatibility before ordering.
Insert seating and clamp engagement should be performed with the machine fully stopped and all axes at rest. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not use impact tools. Verify insert seating against the toolholder pocket before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or damage each time an insert is indexed or replaced.
