The ISCAR 6200449 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the GRIP3002Y geometry, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to IC807 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating, it delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert has a 3.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 1.80 mm, making it suitable for narrow-groove applications requiring precise dimensional control. The double-ended configuration provides two usable cutting edges per insert, extending tool life per unit. Machinists and CNC operators in production turning environments are the primary installers.
This insert is part of the ISCAR Heli-Grip series and is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups P (steel), M (stainless), K (cast iron), H (hardened), and S (superalloys). It fits clamp-style Heli-Grip toolholders designed to accept the GRIP3002 insert size. Typical applications include grooving, parting, and face grooving on small-diameter workpieces in high-volume turning operations where consistent edge geometry and coating durability are required.
Designed for use with ISCAR Heli-Grip series clamp-style toolholders accepting the GRIP3002 insert size. Compatible with workpiece materials across ISO groups P, M, K, H, and S as designated by ISCAR material code classification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state before any insert change. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver for the clamp screw to ensure proper seating without over-stressing the carbide. Inspect the toolholder pocket for debris or wear before seating the insert. Never force the insert into the pocket; improper seating can cause premature edge failure or insert fracture.
