The ISCAR 6200337 is a double-ended solid carbide grooving insert in the Heli-Grip series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. It carries a CVD-deposited Al2O3 coating under the IC8250 manufacturer grade, a wear-resistant classification engineered for elevated cutting temperatures generated in steel and stainless steel applications. The insert measures 19.00 mm (0.748 inches) in overall length with a 4.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 2.40 mm. Corner radius is 0.40 mm. Its neutral hand orientation makes it straightforward to apply in standard right-hand toolholders without re-indexing the setup. Machinists and CNC operators in job-shop and production environments install and index this insert as part of routine tooling maintenance.
The ISCAR 6200337 is suited for grooving, parting, and recessing operations on stainless steel and carbon steel workpieces, the two primary material groups it is rated for under ISO material codes M and P. The Heli-Grip series it belongs to uses a clamp-style holding method, which keeps the insert seated securely under interrupted cuts and varying feed rates. Its double-ended design allows two usable cutting edges per insert, extending tool life per unit. The chip breaker designation HG-Y is matched to this series for controlled chip formation in moderate to tough cutting conditions on ferrous materials.
Designed for use with ISCAR Heli-Grip series clamp-style toolholders that accept the GRIP 4004 insert size. Rated for primary workpiece materials stainless steel (ISO code M) and steel (ISO code P).
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamp to the correct seating torque per the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure full, flat contact and prevent premature edge failure.
