The ISCAR 6061018 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in the GFN style with a 5.11 mm (0.2012 inch) cutting width and a neutral lead angle, this insert seats into compatible Self-Grip toolholders and delivers consistent, repeatable cuts. The IC20 uncoated carbide grade is suited for universal workpiece materials, making it a versatile choice across a wide range of turning applications. A 7-degree relief angle and a 0.28 mm corner radius support clean chip evacuation and controlled edge engagement during cutoff and groove profiling.
This insert is used in single-end grooving and parting operations across both production and job-shop turning environments. The Self-Grip clamping system holds the insert securely under high cutting forces, which is particularly important during full parting operations where insert movement can cause workpiece damage or breakage. The chipbreaker style A geometry promotes chip control across the supported workpiece material range. Typical installers are CNC machinists and tool-and-die technicians working on lathes equipped with compatible Self-Grip grooving systems. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series grooving and parting toolholders that accept GFN style inserts with an insert seat size of 5. Compatible workpiece material groups per ISO designation: H, K, M, N, and S. Material grades C2 and C3 apply.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the Self-Grip pocket and verify clamp engagement before resuming cutting operations. Do not use inserts that show chipping, cracking, or excessive flank wear, as insert failure during parting can damage the workpiece and toolholder.
