The ISCAR 6011428 is a single-end carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Tang-Grip series standard, it features a 5.05 mm (0.1988 inch) cutting width and a neutral lead angle, making it suitable for straight-in parting cuts without directional bias. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide in grade IC830 and carries a PVD-applied AlTiN and TiN coating for heat resistance and edge durability. A 0.25 mm corner radius (0.0098 inch) and J-type chipbreaker geometry help control chip formation and reduce built-up edge during cuts.
This insert is rated for use on superalloys as its primary workpiece material, corresponding to ISO material codes M, P, and S. It is a strong fit for aerospace, oil and gas, and industrial manufacturing environments where difficult-to-machine alloys are common. The Tang-Grip series is a common system in production turning shops running interrupted cuts, deep parting operations, or high-volume grooving cycles. Multi-use tooling capability allows flexible deployment across compatible Tang-Grip toolholders.
Designed for use with compatible Tang-Grip series toolholders that accept size-5 cutoff and grooving inserts. Best suited for turning applications involving superalloys and other challenging workpiece materials classified under ISO material codes M, P, and S.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping guidelines for the Tang-Grip system. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed to a safe position before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping wedge for chips or wear before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the IC830 grade on the specific workpiece material being machined.
