The ISCAR 6004926 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert from the PentaCut series, carrying the manufacturer catalog designation PENTA24N239C015 in grade IC908. It delivers a 2.39 mm (0.0941 inch) cutting width with a neutral lead angle and neutral hand orientation, making it suitable for both right- and left-hand setups without repositioning. The IC908 grade is built on a submicron carbide substrate and finished with a PVD-applied TiN and TiAlN multilayer coating for edge toughness and wear resistance. A screw-clamping holding method keeps the insert seated securely under interrupted cuts and hard turning conditions. Chipbreaker style C supports controlled chip evacuation during parting and grooving operations.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece materials, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. That range spans hardened steels, cast irons, general steels, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys, making the insert a versatile single-SKU option for shops running mixed-material production. Typical applications include parting off on CNC lathes and Swiss-type machines, as well as external grooving where consistent width tolerance is critical. The maximum depth of cut is 5.00 mm (0.1969 inch). Corner radius is 0.15 mm (0.0059 inch). The insert is compliant with ISO 13399 for tool data exchange.
Designed for use in ISCAR PentaCut series toolholders that accept the 24N insert size. Rated for universal workpiece materials across ISO groups H, K, M, P, and S. Confirm toolholder seat dimensions and clamping screw specification before installation.
Carbide grooving and parting inserts are installed by licensed machinists or qualified CNC tooling technicians. Shut down the spindle and disable the machine before changing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the clamping screw — refer to the toolholder manufacturer documentation for the specified fastener. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to prevent micro-fracture at startup.
