The ISCAR 6004811 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert belonging to the PentaCut series, identified by the manufacturer catalog designation PENTA 24N100J050 with grade IC908. The insert features a 1.00 mm (0.0394 inch) cutting width and a 0.50 mm (0.0197 inch) corner radius with a full-radius profile. It is held in the toolholder by a screw-clamping method and carries a neutral lead angle and neutral hand orientation. The IC908 grade is produced via PVD coating with a TiN and TiAlN multilayer finish over a submicron solid carbide substrate, making it suited for demanding grooving and cutoff operations on turning centers and lathes.
This insert is designed for external and internal grooving and cutoff applications on CNC lathes and turning centers. The IC908 PVD-coated grade with submicron substrate is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. That range includes steels, stainless steels, cast irons, hardened materials, and high-temperature alloys. The J chipbreaker geometry and full-radius form factor are appropriate for narrow grooving operations where chip control and insert stability are both critical. Typical installers are machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments.
Designed for use with ISCAR PentaCut series toolholders that accept the PENTA 24N100 insert size and screw-clamping retention. No additional specific toolholder or machine model compatibility data was provided in the product input.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct ISCAR torx or hex key specified for the PentaCut clamping screw — do not overtighten, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamp force. Confirm the insert is fully seated in the pocket before resuming cutting operations, and inspect the pocket for chips or debris that could affect seating accuracy.
