The ISCAR 6004659 is a solid carbide cutoff and parting insert from the PentaIQGrip series, designed for high-performance parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries the IC808G manufacturer grade, a submicron carbide substrate with a PVD-applied multilayer coating of TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN for extended tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The cutting width is 3.00 mm (0.1180 inches) with a corner radius of 0.20 mm (0.0080 inches) and a 6-degree right-hand lead angle. The screw-clamping holding method ensures rigid, repeatable seating in compatible PentaIQGrip toolholders. This insert is specified and installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job shop environments.
The 6004659 is rated for universal primary workpiece material application, covering ISO material groups H, M, P, and S — hardened steels, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is well suited to both roughing and finishing parting operations where consistent groove width and chip control are required. The PENTA insert style provides multiple cutting edges, reducing per-edge tooling cost in high-volume production runs. The chipbreaker designation is C, contributing to effective chip evacuation in through-coolant and flood-coolant setups.
Designed for use with PentaIQGrip series toolholders that accept the PENTA D40R300 insert size. Compatible across ISO material groups H, M, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer. Confirm toolholder bore and clamping screw compatibility before ordering.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians with the machine spindle fully stopped and the turret or tool post locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder specification — do not overtighten or use impact tools on the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and screw for debris or damage before seating a new insert. This insert has a minimum order quantity of 4 units; order accordingly for toolcrib stocking.
