The ISCAR 6003647 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert from the PentaCut series, designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 1.5 mm cutting width, a neutral lead angle, and a 0.15 mm corner radius. The IC908 grade substrate is PVD-coated for extended tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The multi-use design allows the insert to be indexed for repeated use, reducing tooling cost per part. This insert is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in production turning environments.
This insert is suited for grooving and parting applications in both light-production and high-volume turning operations. It is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S, which correspond to hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. Maximum depth of cut is 8.00 mm (0.3150 inches). The PentaCut series is commonly used on gang-tooled lathes and Swiss-style turning machines where compact insert geometry and secure clamping are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for ISCAR PentaCut series grooving and parting toolholders that accept the PENTA 34N150 insert style.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct ISCAR torx or clamping key for the PentaCut toolholder to seat the insert securely without over-torquing the clamping screw. Verify insert seating and tool overhang before returning the machine to operation.
