The ISCAR 6003644 is a carbide cutoff and grooving insert from the Tang-Grip series, designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries an IC20 manufacturer grade with a bright uncoated finish, making it well-suited for a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, cast iron, stainless, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The insert features a 3.05 mm cutting width, a neutral lead angle, and a J-style chipbreaker geometry that promotes controlled chip evacuation during interrupted or continuous cuts. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert into compatible Tang-Grip toolholders as a direct replacement unit.
This insert is applied in production turning environments where consistent groove width and clean parting cuts are required. The neutral hand designation means it is not biased to left or right approach, giving it flexibility across a range of setups. The J chipbreaker geometry is intended for general-purpose grooving across multiple material groups, including ISO material codes H, K, M, N, and S. Single-end construction means the insert is replaced when the single cutting edge is worn, making edge condition easy to assess during tooling audits.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for ISCAR Tang-Grip series toolholders accepting TAG-style inserts with a size code 3 designation. Compatible with ISO material groups H, K, M, N, and S per input data. Meets ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Tang-Grip inserts are installed and removed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping and torque procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or wear before seating a new insert. Do not use damaged or deformed inserts, as improper seating can cause insert ejection during cutting.
