The ISCAR 6003639 is a solid carbide cutoff and parting insert from the Tang-Grip series, engineered for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the IC808 submicron carbide grade with a PVD coating, making it suitable for a broad range of workpiece materials. The cutting width measures 2.05 mm (0.0807 inches), with a 6-degree right-hand lead angle and a 7-degree relief angle. A 0.20 mm corner radius and chipbreaker geometry designated C are integrated into the insert profile. The insert is held in place by a clamp-style Tang-Grip toolholder.
This insert is suited for parting and cutoff applications in production turning environments, including CNC and manual lathes where Tang-Grip compatible toolholders are in use. The IC808 grade and PVD coating address universal material groups, making it usable across steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous, and superalloy workpieces per ISO material codes H, K, M, P, and S. It is a single-end insert and is not designed for multi-use or indexing to a second cutting edge. Typical users are machinists and toolroom technicians working in metalcutting environments.
Designed for use with ISCAR Tang-Grip series toolholders that accept TAG size 2 inserts with a right-hand orientation. Compatible with ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S as designated by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate Tang-Grip clamping tool or torx key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert without over-tightening the clamp. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures during insert changeover.
