The ISCAR 6003637 is a solid carbide cutoff and parting insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Sold individually and cataloged under the Tang-Grip series, it carries a 2.00 mm (0.0787 inch) cutting width and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, providing heat resistance and extended tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert features a right-hand lead angle of 15 degrees, a relief angle of 7 degrees, and a JS chipbreaker geometry. Corner radius measures 0.02 mm (0.0008 inch), making it suited for tight-tolerance parting cuts. Insert grade is IC808, a submicron carbide substrate. Clamping is achieved via a clamp-style insert holding method compatible with Tang-Grip toolholders.
This insert is intended for parting and cutoff applications in production turning environments, both light industrial and heavy-cycle shop settings. It is rated for universal primary workpiece material coverage, including ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S, meaning it handles steel, stainless, cast iron, hardened materials, and high-temperature alloys within appropriate cutting parameter ranges. Toolroom machinists, CNC lathe operators, and production turning technicians are the primary users. The single-end configuration means the insert is indexed once and replaced rather than flipped.
Designed for use with Tang-Grip series clamp-style toolholders accepting TAG size 2 inserts. Confirm toolholder compatibility by matching the TAG insert style designation and size code before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate Tang-Grip toolholder wrench to secure the clamping mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and repeatable tool height.
