The ISCAR 6003616 is a single-end carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and slitting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Tang-Grip series standard, it features an 8 mm cutting width (0.3150 inches) and a neutral lead angle, making it suitable for straight-in cutoff work without directional bias. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide grade IC808 with a PVD-applied multilayer coating combining TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN for improved edge wear resistance and thermal stability. A 7-degree relief angle and 0.50 mm corner radius (0.0197 inches) round out the cutting geometry. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for slitting and cutoff applications across a broad range of workpiece materials. The IC808 grade with universal material compatibility covers ferritic and martensitic steels, cast irons, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. The C-style chipbreaker geometry supports chip control during interrupted or continuous cutoff cuts. It is well suited to medium-to-high-production turning environments where consistent parting performance and insert interchangeability are required.
Designed for use with ISCAR Tang-Grip series cutoff and grooving toolholders that accept TAG N8C style inserts. Verify toolholder pocket size and clamping style before installation.
Insert seating and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and the spindle fully locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Clean the toolholder pocket of chips and debris before seating the insert to ensure full contact and prevent pocket damage. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended depth-of-cut or feed rate for this insert style. Inspect the clamping screw torque and pocket condition at each insert change.
