The ISCAR 6003579 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TAGN4C geometry with IC808 grade, a PVD-coated submicron carbide substrate finished with TiN and TiAlN layers for thermal resistance and edge durability. The cutting width is 3.99 mm (0.157 inches) with a neutral lead angle and a 7-degree relief angle. A 0.24 mm corner radius provides controlled chip formation. The insert mounts via the Tang-Grip self-grip holding method, which eliminates the need for a clamping screw. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a single-end cutting tool for high-precision cutoff work.
This insert is suited for slitting and cutoff applications across a broad range of workpiece materials. The IC808 grade and universal material compatibility rating cover steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), heat-resistant superalloys (S), and hardened materials (H), making it a versatile option for job shops and production turning environments. The Tang-Grip series is designed for narrow-groove and cutoff toolholders that accept self-gripping blade-style inserts. Both light-duty and production-volume turning applications are within scope.
Designed for use in Tang-Grip series toolholders and blade systems that accept self-grip TAGN-style cutoff inserts. Consult the toolholder specification for minimum blade slot depth and width requirements before installation.
This insert is installed and replaced by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before changing inserts, bring the spindle to a full stop, engage the machine lockout, and confirm zero spindle rotation. Tang-Grip inserts seat by pressing the insert into the blade slot until the grip tang is fully engaged - do not strike the insert with a metal tool. Inspect the blade pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert, as a damaged pocket will not hold the insert securely and can cause insert ejection during a cut.
