The ISCAR 6003282 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Do-Grip series, designed for external and face grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries the IC508 manufacturer grade, a submicron carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN multilayer coating. It delivers a 2.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 18.00 mm, making it suited for moderate to deep grooving work. The positive rake geometry with a 7-degree rake angle promotes clean chip flow and reduces cutting forces. The double-end configuration and self-grip holding method contribute to secure toolholder engagement during interrupted or continuous grooving passes.
This insert is intended for use in metal cutting applications across a broad range of workpiece materials. The universal primary workpiece material designation covers material groups P, M, K, N, H, and S per ISO classification, meaning it is applicable to carbon steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, hardened materials, and superalloys. It is suited for production turning environments in aerospace, automotive, and general machining shops where consistent groove geometry and tool life are priorities. The P chip breaker geometry supports chip control during grooving in ductile materials.
Designed for use with ISCAR Do-Grip series toolholders that accept DGN 2000P style inserts. Compatible across ISO workpiece material groups P, M, K, N, H, and S. Verify toolholder pocket specifications against the DGN 2000P insert size code before installation.
Installation of grooving inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a full stop, locked-out condition. The self-grip pocket must be clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Do not use the insert as a lever or pry tool during removal, as this can damage the toolholder pocket. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for insert seating force and inspect the pocket for wear after each insert change.
