The ISCAR 6003143 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the GFN 3 insert style within the Self-Grip series, this insert features a 3.03 mm cutting width (0.1193 inches) and a 0-degree neutral lead angle, making it suitable for straight plunge cutting without lateral deflection. The IC908 grade uses a PVD coating process to deliver hardness and edge integrity across a broad range of workpiece materials. Machinists and tool-room technicians working in production turning environments will find this insert a direct-fit solution for grooving and parting applications.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. That range includes hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steels, general steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is appropriate for both light-duty and moderate production grooving where consistent cut width and insert repeatability are required. The Self-Grip clamping system holds the insert mechanically in a matching toolholder, eliminating the need for screws at the cutting edge and allowing quick, repeatable indexing during production runs.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series toolholders that accept GFN 3 style inserts. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert size code before installation. This insert is not interchangeable with other insert style codes within the Self-Grip lineup.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or removing any insert. Seat the insert fully into the Self-Grip clamping pocket and confirm secure retention before initiating a cut. Inspect the insert and clamping pocket for chips, debris, or wear at each change interval to prevent premature edge failure or workpiece damage.
