The ISCAR 6003131 is a PentaCut series carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This PENTA-style insert features a 3.15 mm cutting width, a neutral lead angle, and a J-style chipbreaker geometry. The insert grade is IC908, a PVD-coated carbide grade engineered for tough interrupted cuts and general-purpose turning across a wide range of workpiece materials. Corner radius measures 0.15 mm, supporting controlled chip formation and surface finish at the cut groove. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a direct replacement or standard stock item in compatible PentaCut toolholders.
This insert is suited for grooving and parting applications in both light production and high-volume turning environments. The IC908 PVD coating and universal primary workpiece material rating make it applicable across steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous, and high-temperature alloys designated by ISO material codes H, K, M, P, and S. Maximum depth of cut is 6.50 mm, making it appropriate for moderate-depth grooving passes. It is compatible with ISO 13399 tooling systems and performs well in both dry and wet cutting conditions depending on material and machine setup.
Designed for use with compatible ISCAR PentaCut series toolholders accepting PENTA 24N315-style inserts. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping mechanism compatibility before installation. No additional model-specific compatibility data was provided in the product input.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert — do not over-tighten, as this can crack the carbide. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
