The ISCAR 6003112 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the PENTA series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries manufacturer grade IC1008 with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating that supports high cutting speeds and provides wear resistance across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert has a neutral hand orientation, a cutting width of 1.5 mm, and a maximum depth of cut of 5 mm. A corner radius of 0.10 mm and a J-style chip breaker geometry round out the cutting geometry for controlled chip evacuation in precision grooving work. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production turning environments.
The PENTA 6003112 insert is suited for grooving, parting, and recessing applications on CNC lathes in both production and job-shop settings. Its universal primary workpiece material designation covers ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S, making it applicable across steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous, and superalloy workpieces. The IC1008 grade with PVD coating performs well in light to moderate interrupted cuts where edge stability and coating adhesion are priorities. It is cataloged under PENTA insert size code 24N150J010 and conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation.
Designed for use with PENTA series toolholders accepting insert size code 24N150J010. Compatible with workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S per ISO designation. Refer to ISCAR PENTA toolholder specifications to confirm pocket and clamping compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct ISCAR PENTA clamping screw and torque driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not use substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and repeatability.
